Especially for the Spanish language, which is a language spoken in several countries, you have the opportunity to prove your language competence by taking an official exam and then obtaining a DELE diploma. Being a diploma reserved for the Spanish language, it has several particularities. Considerable preparation time is required if you want to be successful in this area.

DELE diploma, definition and characteristics

The acronym DELE stands for: Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language. This language certificate is addressed to all people who have learned Spanish as a living language, i.e. this language does not have to be a mother tongue for the apprentice. A country may have a learning centre for the Spanish language, but in any case, this is the only diploma that is approved by the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport as well as by many Spanish-speaking countries. Possession of this diploma thus encourages geographical mobility, as it is valid indefinitely. This Spanish speaking diploma is internationally recognized, global-exam.com/ for example, gives you the opportunity to prepare the exam from the organization of the courses to the final grade in the best conditions to succeed. As a network of DELE examination centres, it is essential to follow the courses and all instructions before taking the exam.

The different levels

According to the European standard, a DELE comprises 6 levels of competence ranging from A1 to C2. The first two levels A1 and A2 constitute an elementary level. Thus, the learner must be able to understand easy communication by learning basic vocabulary and using everyday terms for a language level A1. As you move up the step to level A2, you must begin to understand common phrases and expressions. It is possible for the apprentice to make a simple description about himself or his family. At this level, communication with the outside world in simple cases as well as at the market in public transport is already possible. The second two levels B1 and B2 are intermediate levels. That said, level B1 certifies that the apprentice must be able to understand the key points of a text written in a standard way. He is therefore able to write simple texts. The user can also express himself with ease on more or less detailed subjects of his hobbies, his wishes, and even his desires. A B2 level is more or less an advanced level, as the apprentice must be able to speak fluently with a person whose native language is Spanish. At this level, the apprentice can take part in a debate, as he can argue by giving his point of view on the positive or negative side. The last two levels C1 and C2 are advanced levels. The user can adapt to all the nuances and dialects of the language and thus enter the academic and professional world. In particular, in level C2, this level certifies that the user has all the necessary language skills, so he or she should have a total command of the language. Natural fluency, Spanish accent and fluency in the language will therefore be supporting evidence of perfect competence.

Course of the event

Whatever the level, the test is always composed of a written composition and an oral part. The difficulty of the event also increases at each level. The duration of the test is variable. The written test for level A1 lasts 90 min, but this part is done within 210 min for test B2. Since level B is an intermediate level, the DELE exam will be based on several items which are: reading comprehension which lasts 60 min in the first place. In this section, the applicant must answer 12 multiple choice questions from a text. Secondly, a 60-minute written composition will be devoted to the writing. It is divided into 2 parts: a personal letter and a composition of 150 to 200 words each. Next, oral comprehension will be based on listening to oral texts during which the candidate must answer 12 multiple choice questions. Grammar and vocabulary are controlled under two exercises, a hole text to be completed and a multiple selection containing 40 short dialogues to be completed according to the proposals. Finally, oral expression will be based on the description of a situation, this test lasts 10 to 15 min.
